Is there a safety or something that needs to be released to lift the mitre saw blade and handle up to get wood underneath the blade...borrowed from a buddy, not sure how it works.

Yeah, there is a latch type keeper on the back there that holds the motor down for transport. Should be easy to find. Hope this helps.

Re: ryobi tss100l on releasing the trigger the saw motor keeps running, but the brake is applied, stopping the blade, and finally blowing the 15 amp circuit breaker... thanks frank leppa

089100118042 switch ~ about $8 at ereplacementparts. The brake feature does not use 115v power to work. It uses self generated energy from spinning armature to work. When you release the switch, 115v power is disconnected and brake circuit is activated. Looking at the wiring key on the side of the switch, there are two switch positions with connections numbered from one thru four. Connection 1 to 2 is the normal open connection and is where the motor run wires are connected. Second position is 3 to 4 that is normal closed for brake. Some replacement switches are numbered differently so just follow marked wiring pattern. Your switch is apparently faulty. As a temp measure, try removing one lead of brake circuit from the switch to see if it allows you to use the saw without brake feature. Only a temporary fix if it works untill new switch arrives allowing you to keep working.

Erratic starting circular saw

Sounds to me like you have a bad cord. Clamp the saw to a workbench so that it can start and run safely without you having to hold it. Put tape or a wire tie around the trigger to hold it in. THEN plug it in. Then move the cord around, especially near where it enters the saw. If the saw starts and stops intermittently you have confirmed the bad cord. Good luck.

I own a LS1030 miter saw. I want to change the blade. I have removed the safety cover and the spindle hex screw. The problem arises that the blade still will not come off because of a pivot post inside the blade cover that is connected to an arm for the safety cover. How the heck can I get a new blade on this saw? Thanx for any help or resource that you can refer me to !!!

On the link below page 11 will tell you how to change the blade. http://www.makita.com/en-us/Assets/Output/DownloadFile.aspx?FileName=Products/LS1030N/owners_manuals/LS1030N.pdf Good Luck please accep the answer

Replacing the blade on a Makita 255mm miter saw

I take it you have both flanges and the washer that is behind the innner flange, if not stop there and you need to get them. As far as the blade goes it depends on what size arbor it has. You would need to use the washer that goes on the spindle with no play (movement) and put the blade on the washer I would not use a washer that is thicker than the blade. Put the outer flange on making sure of the direction and then the blade bolt LH thread. Let me know if you have any problems before starting the saw PLEASE and I will help more.
