Tile Saws question

Since tiles are so thick, brittle, and made of ceramic, a special saw must be used. An ordinary circular saw for wood or metal would either break the tile or get so hot that it would seize up and stop cutting. However, ceramic tile is not cut well with sharp blades. The wet tile saw was invented to address all these unique properties of ceramic. It doesn't overheat, uses a relatively dull blade with no serrations, and can be transported to a job site and set up on top of an existing table or sawhorses.

How to use Tile Saw

To cut a tile using a wet tile saw, measure the exact space in which the tile will fit. Cuts are usually along a perimeter, in a corner, or around an electrical outlet. Mark the line on the full-sized tile in grease pencil. Most saws will accommodate tiles up to 12 inches (30 cm) in size, but oversized saws can be rented for huge floor tiles. Wearing safety glasses, place the tile on the moveable platform, and line up the mark with the edge of the saw. With the motor running, slide the platform toward the blade with an even but gentle pressure. Since you are grinding the tile apart, ensure that the water have sufficient time to cool everything.

Crooked cuts I have a 10" wet saw that has cut lots of tile in the last year and is in mint condition. I went to cut a peice of 12" marble and the blade starts to wobble as soon as it comes in contact with tile. It free spins true and I even went and bought a new blade. Starts to wander and blade flex as soon as it comes in contact with tile still. Blade is tight on arbor and water is flowing well. Have cut this same tile about a week ago with no problem. Also blade seems to be square with table. Any advice?

The bearings in your saw need to be replaced. I would contact a DeWalt store to obtain the parts or have them do the repair. You have an excellent saw there, well worth repairing. good luck.

I removed the cover on my mk 101 tile saw to replace the switch and the wires came off the run capacitor. Does anyone know which wires go where. Theres a neutral coming in from the cord on one side and 3 other wires, a black ,a white with a blue trcer, and a white. help.

OK MOST Caps aren't polarized, so can go on anyway... Check to see if there is any + or - on the Cap... NO then connect it up anyway .. if yes Phase needs to go to + Neutral needs to go to -. Black is normally Phase, which probably goes to the motor so the other two, white & blue must be for the Cap. But unless ya can get a schematic from manufacturer this is only an educated guess. BE CAREFUL.

Wobble blade /rough cuts

Did yo happen to put the round hoding plate back on before you bolted the blade on, this is what keeps the blade from wobbleling, if you have since you haven;t used it to much has anything hit against the shaft that might have broke the bearings? and made the shaft wobble,.but is sounds like the round washer that goes on the blade before the lovk nut is installed isn't there

I own a Hitachi 10CFR Table Saw. My question is: Can I load a Dado Stack onto the Arbor of this table saw to create a 3/4 dado cut? I've read everything from "Yes" to "Absolutely Not" to "You can only load a 1/2 inchdado stack".........Help

After doing some research, I found that hitachi only recommends up to a 1/2 dado for this machine with most of the users agreeing that it probably does not have the stability or power to run a 3/4 inch safely. Meaning you probably can run the 3/4 but at you own risk.

Why is my tile saw making different noises?

Sounds like you have bearings going/gone bad. If it's a direct drive model, check the bearings in the motor and on the arbor. If it's a belt driven model check the bearings on either end of the arbor shaft. As bearings go bad, someone using the saw regularly will notice a different tone in the tool. If you are getting vibrations that bad, the bearings are already loosing balls or the race is tore up and all the balls are on one side and can't doing their job correctly.
