Circular saw engine question

It's important to choose a tool with a motor that is powerful enough to meet your needs. For example, a woodworker should choose a saw with enough power to cut through everything from wet lumber to dense hardwood. If the motor in the saw you select doesn't have enough power, the blade heats up and begins to dull. In addition to creating poor quality cuts, this can become a safety hazard if the blade starts to climb out and push the saw back towards the user. However, evaluating power from the motor ratings can be misleading. Amps indicate only the amount of electricity a motor draws, not the power it sends to the blade. Horsepower accounts for torque (rotational force), but not necessarily under working conditions. So be careful and ask the seller if this particular tool suits the work you want to be done.

Rebuilt a Stihl TS400 concrete saw, and now it wont cut, the engine dies down and has no power but revs up? Ive tried everything!

All these people are missing a basic thing: check the compression. If you did all thus work yourself, you may have reused the head gasket or not installed the new one correctly. It will run with no load, but once force in exerted, the pressure finds the leak and exploits it. There is a reason 2-cycle engines run at 130-160 psi normally.

Blown engine I have ten saws i rent out, and have had four motors blow in the past month. the saws are getting old, but are well maintained. When I rent them out, i send them with a can of premixed fuel, so the customer does not put regular gas in the machine. The premix is 50:1 using 2 cycle engine oil from Stens. My question is, Is there a better oil to be mixing with these older saws? Or is there anything else that could be scaring the piston and cylinder, and blowing the motors? (compression is @ 75psi)

Makita likes you to use at least 91 octane fuel and a synthetic oil mixture. the stens oils is garbage, i switched to the makita oil around 6 months ago and i havent had a problem. also, the wacker saws use the same motor and their piston heads are sleeved in carbon so they last longer and dont score the cylinder as fast as the stock makita heads. makita also makes a 100:1 mix hi performance oil you can use.

Circular saw Safety question

Circular saws, like other power tools, can cause serious injuries if they are not used properly. Familiarize yourself with the owner's manual before attempting your first project. Make sure you are wearing safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying debris and ear protection to guard against hearing damage caused by the noise of the motor.

Replacement blade neighbor gave me 10" 13 amp craftsman saw, no blade...maybe dumb question but does it take a 10" many teeth would you recommend to cut dupont engineered hardwood flooring planks?

Use a 10" blade. As for the number of teeth...the more teeth the finer the cut will be. The only drawback is a a finer toothed blade will cut slow. For your purposes I'd suggest a fine toothed blade.

I was given a 10" Craftsman table saw, which has a lot of surface rust on the table. I have been told by friends to use a fine grit sandpaper, other said Navel Jelly. What is the best way to remove and keep the rust off?

You can use scothbrite or something synthetic scrubbing pad with mineral spirits/ oil . Once the rust is removed, try to apply paste waxes so that the rust will not return. Always clean your table saw. This worked on my band saw.

Circular saw Safety issues

If you are left-handed, you must be extremely cautious when operating a circular saw, since most saws are designed for right-handed operation. But if you can, you'll be better off with a left-handed model or an adjustable one (suitable for right-handed and left-handed as well).

Grinder question How do I use one?

Use a pencil and straight edge to mark the cutting line on the wood. Place the wood on the saw table and line the mark up with the saw. Place the mark on the right side of the blade to ensure proper cutting. Plug the saw in and put on your safety goggles. Support the wood on the work surface with your left hand, placing it far from the saw blade. Place your right hand on the handle, and push the trigger to start the saw. Move the saw blade down onto the wood. Put constant pressure on the handle to slowly move the blade through the wood. Release the trigger and raise the blade once the cut is complete. Make diagonal cuts in the same manner, by marking the wood and lining the mark up just to the right of the saw blade. Continue as you would for a straight cut. Remove the wood from the saw. Unplug the chop saw and dust the sawdust off. Remove the dust bag from the back and empty it. Vacuum any remaining dust off of the saw.
