You could try another battery if you have on(they only last for so many charges) or your charger could be bad. Try plugging it in to another outlet. Good Luck

I'm new to home improvement, and just bought my first cordless drill (Ryobi P204, 18-volt, 1/2"). How the heck do I insert the bit? The drill comes with two batteries, and a charger. There is an opening with a metal lip, but how do I secure the bit? A steep learning curve here. The manual is no help. Thanks

Like many drills these days, the P 204 has keyless chuck. In order to secure a bit, locate the forward/reverse switch (right above the trigger). Set it to the center of the three positions. This will lock the drill so that it cannot turn. Now turn the black portion at the front of the drill's nose (looking at the drill from the front, clockwise rotation will tighten the chuck and counterclockwise will loosen it) Adjust the chuck jaws so the bit you have chosen will fit without too much slop and then tighten the chuck until it holds the bit snugly and straight. Unlock the forward/reverse switch (push to the right to drill or insert screws) and you should be ready to go!

18 volt batteries

Yes you can, as long as the batteries are the same style and fit the older Ryobi tools. The Ah rating is a capacity rating. The higher the Ah, the longer the battery will last so the 1.7Ah will just last a bit longer than the 1.5Ah batteries, but yes you can use them on older 18v Ryobi tools. I do it all the time.

Milwaukee 6390 dead

I dont know how old the tool is but when I worked on them it was notorious for exploding the commutator and damaging the brush holders, hopefully yours didn't do that. You have voltage at both brush holder then I would remove the brushes (UNPLUG TOOL FIRST) making sure they are not sticking in the tubes and while they are out rotate the tool by hand and look for any noticable difference in the commutator bars. Check all the connections from the field to make sure the circuit is complete like it sounds that you have done and if so that just leaves the two items I mentioned. Let me know if I can help further.

I need to get a cordless battery charger (old style, not lithium, will do) AND TWO old style batteries for my 18V Plus 1 RYOBI cordless recip saw. AND I need to get the manual. HELP! Sue Sweeney

I have a Coleman that needed a new charger, but found a Makita multi-voltage charger and have been able to use it. The package says It is for Makita batteries only. HItachi also makes a universal battery charger. I found both at my local Lowe's. The Makita was originally $69, but was marked down to $25. The Hitachi was around $70. You can find either one for good prices on Ebay or Amazon. Good luck!

Plug battery in and lights don't go on

The battery is failing and is starting to degrade. If you can't get it to take a full charge, you might want to mark it for use in your flashlight only, but eventually, the battery won't take any charge and you'll have to replace it. The good news is the the Ryobi battery tools have the lowest cost of rechargeable batteries in the marketplace. I believe you can purchase a 2 pack at Home Depot for under $40.00 which is very inexpensive for two (2) Ni-Cad batteries. If you battery is from a new tool set, just simply contact Ryobi Customer Service and they'll address the problem with a replacement. If the batteries are ones you've been using for awhile, then go for the replacement. NiCad batteries should be used until the tool slows down to the point where you can't use it. Then remove the battery from the tool and allow it to cool down for about 15-20 minutes before placing it in the charger. This will provide the maximum working life for your batteries. When you use a battery powered tool, the battery gets warm/hot as it discharges, and then it gets heated up during the recharging process, so letting it cool down after using it, will prolong the useful life of that battery. Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
