Guide :Saws : 10 Amp Sawzall Plus with Quick - Lok Cord

Sawzall quit working

Was using sawzall and it would not turn back on. Thought maybe the brushes broke or wore out but they look fine. Could the twist lock power cord have a short? I tried to test it with a voltmeter but don't get a constant voltage. How can I test to see if the cord, trigger or brushes are bad? Thanks for any suggestions. -Randy.

Super Sawzall #6527 Clutch Adjustment

The answer to all 3 is yes. The website is and to tighten the clutch you will need a 1/2" socket a vise or similar device to hold the gear along with a piece of rubber or a shop rag that is folded to prevent damage to the gear. What you have to do is remove the shoe, on the side where the release lever is there is a T20 screw that comes out next, remove the lever, pull off gearcase insulator and remove the 4 T20 screws that hold it to the motor housing. Under the insulator you will find 2 plastic O rings don't loose them they go on the shaft that locks the shoe in place. on the front of the gearcase you will find a plastic cap, remove it to find the 1/2" nut put the gear with the protective wrap in a vice and tighten the hex nut, I usually tighten them a little more than snug. When done reassemble in reverse. You can pull up a breakdown at the site listed so you know what I am talking about but it is really quite simple.

Hello, since i first bought my sawzall I have had trouble with the cord the first one blowup in my ear went pop and the cord had a hole in it at the saw end I got a new one from service as the saw was new then the second cord when you twist it on would alway work it way loose and now the saw wont work i know it's the cord what can I do it will be my third cord.

Unplug the tool, remove the cord and look into the end that plugs into the saw. Do all the pins appear the same depth if so look at the pin housing on the tool itself for a pin that is pushed in or bent.

Sawzall quit working

With an ohm meter check the pins where the cord plugs in. Pull the trigger and check for a reading. If that's ok, then do the same with the power cord for a reading from the plug to the terminals on the other end. My guess is that you will need a new cord. Do Not Patch a power cord!! Frankster016

How to dissasemble sawzall for cleanning - Milwaukee Tool 10 Amp Sawzall Plus with Quick - Lok Cord

First unplug the tool and remove the handle half, using compressed air blow all the debris out of the brush area and in the front where the gearcase meets the motor housing, blow thru there also. I don't think I would recommend taking the gearcase off but if you are mechanically inclined you can go to and with your model and serial number download a schematic for this tool. The gearcase insulator boot is usually difficult to remove. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Saw quit I used my saw 1 day then took it out of the box the next day and nothing. Power cord is fine and with a meter the power goes thru the trigger. Brushes look fine . It is 10 -15 yrs old but has never been burnt.

This was helpful in solving the problem with my Sawzall. However... the pins that had moved where the pins in the receptacle on the saw. They had pushed back into the female portion of the connection. I pulled that back out with a pair of needle nose pliers and viola! Shees-a-workin! Thanks! Greg.

Tool all of a sudden stopped working. Have power through cord, but squeeze the trigger and nothing.

Two things to check: Some of the newer models have a speed control on the side. Be sure that you have not set this to the lowest (off) setting. Also, verify that the cord is all the way in and locked. Next I would replace the trigger. Over the years, I have had to replace the trigger a number of times. Dan
