Blade vibrating tried to rip a piece of MDF. It got caught and twisted the blade. It seems like either the blade is bend or the motor shaft. It made funny noisy after I switched it off especially near the end of the spinning.

I am borrowing my brothers Craftsman model 137.218240 table saw. Unfortunately, it has a on/off switch problem (I believe). Yesterday, I was able to use it all day although, at first, I had difficulty getting it to turn "on". After about a dozen attempts (with no noise coming from the "on" switch activation) I called my brother who verified that the saw had this problem the last time he used it. He suggested I keep trying and I did and several activations later I heard a "thunk" noise twice (kind of like a locked rotor type sound), then finally it turned on a few trys later and all was well yesterday, just cross cutting some thin laminate flooring. However, this morning, same problem! However, after getting it going for two small cuts, I now cannot get it going, I just get the occasional "thunk" or momentary blade spinning! My questions are as follows: 1. Can I get inside this saw to see whether I can either repair, replace or bypass this switch myself. 2. Are you familiar with this type of problem and know of a solution? Manufacturer defect? By the way, the saw is not under warranty and Sear's service center is way too far away for me. also, this problem exists regardless whether I'm using an extension cord or not so I know it's not a low-voltage issue. Thanks in advance, Wayne

You can chec wiring or switch with an ohmmeter to determine if it is bad. You should be able to remove a few screws to access the inside of the saw fairly easily. You can easily by-pass the switch by twisting the wires together. Though it will have to be untwisted to shut off again. You could just unplug it. There isn't much to these.

My very old Craftsman 10" Table Saw does not power on. While rip cutting some plywood, I errored and caused the blade to bind. Before I was able to power off the saw, the motor stopped. I thought I had popped a circuit breaker, but did not. Power to the table saw was still hot, yet when I power on the table saw it does nothing -- it's dead. The RESET button also does nothing. Does this sound like a broken switch or the motor? Craftsman 10" Table Saw - Model #113.295752 Please advise how to fit or whether to get a new table saw.

Go to searspartsdirect.com and put in your model number. Look at the motor and wiring section. Look at item 16. The motor overload protector. (probably your reset button) WIth saw unplugged, unwire one sid of this switch and test with an ohm meter. You should read through the switch. If it is open then that's why the saw doesn't work. Many of this type of oveload requires quite a push to reset as you're flexing a klixon disc back to make contact. If is open and you can't reset, it's available there although a bit high priced.

I have a Craftsman table saw a few weeks back had problems getting the saw to run....would have to hit the switch several times to make it run. Once it was running it was good until I shut it down, then I would have to hit the switch 5 or so times to get it to run again. Today it did the same thing and now just wont run. The blade turns freely by hand and is not binded or anything. Does this sound like a bearing? Brushes?

Replace the switch? Hello!

How do I keep the on switch of my Bosch PKS54 circular saw 'ON' without physically holding the on switch down?

Rewire the saw with a table mounted switch. This will probably void the warranty.

Turned my table saw on, was on for about 10 seconds without any material touching blade, then I shut it off to reposition part, it will not turn back on. No breakers tripped, and the extension chord still works on other equipment. did my power switch go bad, or is there some kind of fuse on these, saw is only about 2 yrs old.

Most have a circuit breaker, look for a red button. Many saws have a yellow plastic safety key that has to be in the switch to turn it on.
