Batterys will not hold charge

Hi kevinsharpe8;Right off the top of my head I would suspect the charging circuit. The way to check this is to measure the voltage at the batteries while they are on charge. The voltage reading when they are supposed to be charging should be higher that what you would read at the batteries when they are not charging. These charging circuits are not complicated and any electrician type should be able to trouble shoot the circuit and find the problemHope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating if appropriate thanks

Plug battery in and lights don't go on

The battery is failing and is starting to degrade. If you can't get it to take a full charge, you might want to mark it for use in your flashlight only, but eventually, the battery won't take any charge and you'll have to replace it. The good news is the the Ryobi battery tools have the lowest cost of rechargeable batteries in the marketplace. I believe you can purchase a 2 pack at Home Depot for under $40.00 which is very inexpensive for two (2) Ni-Cad batteries. If you battery is from a new tool set, just simply contact Ryobi Customer Service and they'll address the problem with a replacement. If the batteries are ones you've been using for awhile, then go for the replacement. NiCad batteries should be used until the tool slows down to the point where you can't use it. Then remove the battery from the tool and allow it to cool down for about 15-20 minutes before placing it in the charger. This will provide the maximum working life for your batteries. When you use a battery powered tool, the battery gets warm/hot as it discharges, and then it gets heated up during the recharging process, so letting it cool down after using it, will prolong the useful life of that battery. Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Bosch CCS180 18V lithium cordless circular saw. Starts first time only when battery put in place. Won't start again until battery removed and reinserted. Not recharged again, just reinserted. Then starts fine but won't start again until battery again removed and reinstalled. Same for all three Bosch FatPac batteries I've tried. All remained charged. Is there some safety cut off button or something?

Hi ramzemail,Welcome to fixya! It sounds like the wire connection where you insert the battery is loose. So, when you give the battery a shove in, the connection tightens, then the vibration from use loosens it again. You would have to take the hand grip piece apart until you can see the wiring and check the connections. Here is a diagram to help you disassemble the unit: Copy and paste this entire address into your browser and the diagram for CCS180K will open for you. Should your model be the CCS180B, use this address: The battery area is the same for both but, in case you ever need parts, I'll give you both.Good luck. Hope this helps. Please place a vote when you accept this solution. Thanks,Handie Andie
