When I push the start button, the motor starts,

Hi there,The symptoms you are describing indicate an overload state. According to page 14 of the operations manual, the proper course of action is to wait 3-5 minutes and try again. If it continues, to contact a qualified electrician.Doesn't really give a lot of help though, does it. Prior to such measures, I'd check on the following: The cord is in good shape. No frays. Is the power cord warm? Is there an extension cord involved? Is this a recent development after a recent event? Does the action on the switch feel any different? Is there anything else on the same circuit that could cause a low voltage situation? My gut feeling is the switch is no longer locking and needs to be replaced. If the unit is still covered by warranty, exchange it. If not, the web site in the Link above is also the source for parts.I cannot be more specific without your exact model number.Best regardsMike

My very old Craftsman 10" Table Saw does not power on. While rip cutting some plywood, I errored and caused the blade to bind. Before I was able to power off the saw, the motor stopped. I thought I had popped a circuit breaker, but did not. Power to the table saw was still hot, yet when I power on the table saw it does nothing -- it's dead. The RESET button also does nothing. Does this sound like a broken switch or the motor? Craftsman 10" Table Saw - Model #113.295752 Please advise how to fit or whether to get a new table saw.

Go to and put in your model number. Look at the motor and wiring section. Look at item 16. The motor overload protector. (probably your reset button) WIth saw unplugged, unwire one sid of this switch and test with an ohm meter. You should read through the switch. If it is open then that's why the saw doesn't work. Many of this type of oveload requires quite a push to reset as you're flexing a klixon disc back to make contact. If is open and you can't reset, it's available there although a bit high priced.

Sounds like you may have overheated the motor. I'm surprised the overload on the motor didn't trip first. With this overheating, the windings in the motor have basically shorted out to ground. This is why your breaker is tripping. Rewinding the motor is no longer the option these days. You can try going online to

My Powermatic 66 table saw won't start. Tried to turn on my Powermatic 66 table saw this morning. Blade moved one half inch as if trying to start. Tried reset button on motor, still nothing.  I believe it may be the electronic starter, but unsure how to test.

Your saw motor is equipped with a two speed internal start switch. Over time saw dust will get into the contacts and cause the points to burn. You can pull the end off of the motor and take some 400 grit sandpaper to the contacts to clean them( there are two sets of contacts one works in the out position the other in the in position) it will be the set in the in position that is the problem. Gentle clean them, reassemble the motor end cap and it will work fine. I have to do this about once a year to my saws. I use my saws about 25 hours a week. I have been doing this to one of my Powermatic saws for 31 yrs. now.

I have powermatic pm2000 3hp 10" saw, when I try to turn on push on button , it blows the breaker. I have correct power. I have used this saw for 5 years no problems. I took magnetic switch apart, seems ok, contacts look, ok ,Is it possible capacitors gone bad in motor, or is possible too much sawdust got inside motor, which causes motor to short out? Any help would be greatly appreciated, My saw is my livelyhood.

There is a direct short some where.Unplug and turn the blade and listen to the bearings. One of the brushes might be worn down and be jammed against the armature. Five years of use and those brushes might be ready for replacement. If things turn out to be easy fix then changing brushes is not that hard. When you take them out you will see some small holes in the holders. When you put the new brush in the spring will try to push the brush back out,use a small piece of wire in the holes to hold it in.Next install the brushes back where they go.Check the armature out use a hacksaw blade to clean those grooves between the metal strips.Put the armature back in place and button it back together and pull out the keeper wires and your done.

My radial arm saw doesn't start. Breaker kicked out several times. Reset breaker & last time it didn't start.

Your brushes could be shot or you burnt up the motor .
