I have two Ryobi drills, and neither is the charger plugs directly into the drill, and the light isn't coming on to show any power....the second has a detachable battery, and that isn't lighting up or charging when plugged into the charger either. I may have mixed up the chargers previously....7.2v and 9 v...could this be the cause and is it fixable?

If you mixed up the 7.2v and 9 v chargers and out a batter in to charge it its not fixable! Your lucky you did not blow up the battery.I did the same thing about 3 years ago and when I came home to my work shop it was covered in a oil/coke like covering for 10 feet around the charger... Sorry to say its not fixable. But you can find replacements for your drill even now after its been discontinued gonna cost around 35 bucks a battery but still worth it if the drill's in good shape... Sorry its not the news you were looking for, Best wishes Bob Hallzy

Charger not charging

Just was on a website for Ryobi drills and it states that if the yellow and green light stay on for more than 15 minutes the battery is fried. Couldn't find the link but if you do a search for Ryobi Drill 18 volt you should find the same info. It was as product review from Australia I think. I also have a problem with the charging of Ryobi batterys. They seem to charge AOK with the green light coming on but the charge does not last at all. Not sure if the problem is with the batteries on the charger.

Plug battery in and lights don't go on

The battery is failing and is starting to degrade. If you can't get it to take a full charge, you might want to mark it for use in your flashlight only, but eventually, the battery won't take any charge and you'll have to replace it. The good news is the the Ryobi battery tools have the lowest cost of rechargeable batteries in the marketplace. I believe you can purchase a 2 pack at Home Depot for under $40.00 which is very inexpensive for two (2) Ni-Cad batteries. If you battery is from a new tool set, just simply contact Ryobi Customer Service and they'll address the problem with a replacement. If the batteries are ones you've been using for awhile, then go for the replacement. NiCad batteries should be used until the tool slows down to the point where you can't use it. Then remove the battery from the tool and allow it to cool down for about 15-20 minutes before placing it in the charger. This will provide the maximum working life for your batteries. When you use a battery powered tool, the battery gets warm/hot as it discharges, and then it gets heated up during the recharging process, so letting it cool down after using it, will prolong the useful life of that battery. Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
