It also says dewalt on it. the problem is the nut that holds the blade is stripped ,the shaft threads are ok. I need to know the size of the nut and number of threads. Father was trying to make Christmas gifts but this has been a hard item to find/or to fix. This is a 1975 Radial Arm Saw. Please help. thanks Carl.

This is an older saw and DeWalt does not have it online to check parts. They suggest that you contact a local service center for that information. I also tried a couple other sites that sell replacement parts with no luck. If you cant find it let me know and I am in contact with a local Dewalt center where I work and will call them for you.

Replacing 5007 baseplate

I hope we're talking about the same nut, is it the one on the lever to lock the cutting depth? If so, it's held in place by a lock plate that you remove by taking out the small pan head screw next to the nut. After you take the lock plate off the nut should come off easily.

For Delta 36-540 Type 3: Is Arbor threaded Right or Left? How best to remove an overtightened nut? I bought the tool second-hand .. now I can't change its blade. Help!

CHANGING THE BLADE 1. WARNING: WHEN CHANGING THE BLADE, MAKE CERTAIN THE TOOL IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SOURCE. USE ONLY 10" DIAMETER SAW BLADES RATED FOR 4600 RPM OR HIGHER WITH 5/8" ARBOR HOLES. 2. Raise the saw blade to its maximum height and remove the table insert (A) Fig. 35. 3. Using the open end wrench (B) Fig. 35, place open end of wrench on flats on inside blade flange to keep the saw arbor from rotating and remove arbor nut (C) with wrench (D). Turn nut (C) counterclockwise to remove. Remove outside blade flange (E) and saw blade (F). 4. Assemble new blade, making certain teeth of blade are pointing down at the front of the saw table and assemble the outside blade flange (E) Fig. 35, and arbor nut (C). Tighten nut (C) with wrench (D) by turning nut clockwise while holding arbor steady with other wrench (B). 5. Replace table insert. Or you can get the manual on the link below. My saw problem has to do with changeing the blade. I'm useing a thin kirf blade. When I change the blade I have to put a wrench on the arbor next to the pulley to keep the arbor shaft from turning when I loosen the nut to remove the blade. I try to put a block of wood in the teeth of the blade to hold it while loosening the arbor nut with the wrench. The arbor nut turns with the arbor shaft and the blade doesn't move. I've used this blade for a few years without a problem. When I use my dadoe stack it does the same thing. The arbor shaft turns with the arbor nut when trying to loosen the nut to remove the stack. Any suggestions on what to do or whats happening?

The nut is binding on the arbor because the threads are buggered up or clogged with something. It could be the nut (which is probably brass and soft) or the arbor (which is steel). If it got a little cross threaded, the damage will be on the nut. It might be the arbor if the arbor took a whack. Once you have it apart you should be able to see it - although the damage might be pretty small. You aren't likely to have a tap and die to run through the threads, but you can probably fix it with a little rotary tool (like a dremel) using a small disc. If it is the arbor you can use a triangular file. Or you can buy a new nut. I hope this helps.

Go to a Napa parts store (or a similair tool store) and ask for a small "easy out". This is a tool about the size of a drill bit that is specifically used for this purpose.
