Changing the blade to our compound miter saw when hex slot is rou

Ok a couple things to try...Firstly to hold the blade arbor still if it doesnt have an arbor/spindle lock button, try wedging a piece of wood between the blade and the saw table (might have to lower the cutting head and hold it down. Next try again with the hex key... Make sure it is the right size one, i.e. the one that came with the saw. If the hole is really rounded out, you are in a bit of a bind, however, the next option is to get a grinder and try and slice a groove across the nut so you can fit a large screwdriver or a flat piece of steel in th slot in the nut you just made for leverage and try and work the nut off that way. Either way, be sure to get a new blade nut if and when you get it off to make sure the problem doesn't occur again. See how you go.

How to change blade on 10" Craftsman table saw?

You need to grab the blade with something.maybe some pliers(if you are not going to refurbish blade) and loosen the nut in the center of the blade. i think it is a left hand thread(cw to loosen) because of the rotation of the blade. if the nut is on the left when looking from the front it is probably left handed. make sure it's unplugged and wear leather gloves so you don't get cut. install in reverse...

The blade nut on my Ryobi 10" miter saw is too tight for me to loosen, so I can change the blade. I'm turning the hex wrench clockwise and holding in the blade lock. I don't see rust or anything else that might cause the nut to seize up. Can I use WD-40 to loosen the nut? Last time the blade was changed was in the repair shop. Did they just get the nut on really tight? I don't want to damage the saw, and I don't want to pay the shop just to loosen the blade.

Hello daobrien,Not to worry, I think I can help you with your problem. You can try the WD-40, but first try the following. (Sounds like the repair shop wants you to come back.) First what I recommend is that you use your adjustable Vise Grip pliers and clamp it to the front of the blade. If there is a plastic shroud in the way, you may have to remove it temporarily. Doing this may give you enough leverage to loosen the nut. Apply the WD-40, then try to twist off the nut. The idea of using the pliers is allow you to not have hold the brake lock and give you the ability to apply enough torque to do the job. I have done this same thing when my framing saw nut was on to tight and it worked for me. Let me know if this is successful for you. If you would, please a positive feedback for me. I will very much appreciate it. Good luck! :o) Regards, NormanZ

I have a Craftsman 7 1/4 circular saw Model 315.10851 that I bought around 1980. It has been a reliable tool for numerous home projects over the years. I recently put a masonry blade in it to cut landscaping stones. It worked fine at first, then the blade started slipping. When I tried to tighten the bolt the blade the motor turns even when I hold the blade. I realize the problem is a result on not using the "blade washer" that has a flat spot which matches up with a flat spot on most blades. The masonry blade had only a circular opening so I didn't use it. The problem now is how do I get the masonry blade off of the saw?

After removing the blade bolt and the outer flange you will need to fully retract the lower guard (remove battery) and sometimes wiggle the blade but it will come out.
