If you already replaced the brushes you could have a couple problems, the least is the armature commutator needs cleaned and the more expensive is that it needs replaced. This is a problem unless you want to tackle taking the motor partially apart. Let me know what route you want to take either a repair center or looking at the commutator.

Bosch 4000 table saw won't work

OK sounds like you are handy. You have electric to the brush tubes? (first unplug saw to test) If yes then I would remove the brushes to see if they were making contact with the commutator. Does the blade spin freely? If not you might have a bearing problem. I would again use air after removing the brushes and then reinsert making sure they seat on the armature. If still nothing then if you are comfortable I would pull the motor housing. But before pulling go to Bosch Tools website and downloading a breakdown of your saw. Let me know if I can help

My Powermatic Model 64A table saw is 10 years old and has been lightly used as a hobby. It's powered to run on 230 volts. Beginning two weeks ago, the motor has begun to shut down during use. Sometimes it will re-start and work fine for an entire day and other times it will not re-start at all. Must dust collector runs on the same electrical circuit without problem. The table saw problem occurs with and without the dust collector drawing power. Tim in Knoxville Does this sound like a bad switch, lose electrical connection or a motor problem? Or, could it be something really simple that I'm overlooking?

Does wiggling the cord cause the problem?

Electric blade brake sounds like it is seized up. Upon starting table saw (bosch 4000), motor sounds like it is binding. How can I disengage the brake??

There is no electric brake on the Bosch 4100 table saw. If the motor sounds like it is being held back its possible the rear armature bearing has seized or the field coil is faulty. Both these problems cause the motr to not turn at full speed. The motor must be serviced.

Bosch table saw model 4000. Brushes where sparking alot .

It sounds like the armature is gone, if you are lucky the field coil is ok. Pull the back of the motor off and have a look at the armature where the brushes run if it looks burned or really rough the armature is gone and must be repalced.

I have a BOSCH 4000 table saw which spins very slow. I opened the motor took out the field to examine. When I tried to reassemble it, I faced some problem. There are two wires from field, one connects to the Brush Holder. I am not sure where the second one goes. To the second brush holder or to be connected to Control Board?

There is 4 wires from the field, 2 reds a white and a black. the reds have spade connectors on them, they go to the brush holders. The white goes to the white on the speed controler and the black goes to the black on the speed controller. There is one wire from the speed control that goes on to one of the brush leads, there is a small adapter that allows both wires to be connected. If the motor spins very slow then the field is faulty and needs replaced. Hope this helps

My Bosch table saw motor runs but sparks are coming out the back of the motor. I replaced the bushings and that didn't help. Please advise.

The sparks are most likely coming from the brushes and the commutator. This is an indication of either worn brushes or an armature that is failing and if used further, will burn out. First check the brushes and look at the condition of the commutator. These motors are known to be problematic.

I have a delta contractors table saw that wont start. It has a Marathon Electric Motor 62-044 that hangs off the back. It has capacitors rather than brushes. When you turn on the swithch it does nothing. I checked the power to the saw an its good. I think it may be the capacitor(one or both). When you turn on the switch it does nothing no buzzing nothing. Is it the capacitors and do I have to split the motor(pull out the long bolts that run all the way thru the motor to get at the base of these capiaitor wires or not. Ideas????

Most likely to quit suddenly is the switch. My table saw switch broke recently, and at first I thought it was the motor.Over the years I remember seeing table saws fitted with a handy box and ordinary light switch to replace the table saw switch.Check for power at motor: Sometimes the wire connection from switch has access box on the motor where you can get in and check for power.

Using a Delta 10'' table saw when it sounded like it was binding a bit and then a small amount of smoke started coming out of the motor area. I quickly shut off the saw to look for the problem. I set the saw on its side to get a better look. As I turned the blade by hand, small shavings (may have been magnetic) fell from the motor. When I upended the saw to try the switch, there was no power and the in-line fuse was not tripped. The outlet powered other tools so not the outlet. Any ideas or where to start? My dad was there and he asked about the brushes but he did not explain what he meant.

Hello, the brushes are two gray sprung loaded electrical conductors. They are located on the inner main spindel of the motor (armature), when they start to wear out you will find that most electrical motors will slow down in revolutions. Experience has taught me that when an electrical motor emits smoke it has normally burnded out the armature. This in all honesty is not worth fixing as it is an expensive job, it is cheaper to buy a new saw. Sorry to convey bad news but I hope this clarifies thing for you.
