Problem finding blade choices for Makita circular saw

I got a Makita 18v LXT cordless saw for my husband. It comes with one 16T blade (5-3/8 with 5/8 arbor). He needs another blade with more teeth for cutting plywood etc. But Makita doesn't sell any other blades for it on their web site. When I use a search engine to look for blades I get sites with hundreds of blades to wade through. Most have the wrong size arbor. Can anyone recommend a specific blade, that has more teeth for wood cutting, than the factory installed blade?

Problem finding blade choices for Makita circular saw

OK done some more checking and I believe you are out of luck, but before giving up hope do you have a saw sharpening business in your area?? My friend says that he has sent blades to one in my area and had the center hole bored out to the appropriate arbor hole and the blades run true and from what he tells me it is relatively cheap, so check first and see and then you can buy a blade in the diameter you want and have it bored out. Sorrry I couldn't come up with anything else, I check about 6 diffferent mfrs and they all have the same.

Battery compatability problem. I bought the saw and batteries separately and now find that the BL1815 LXT Lithium batteriesdon't fit in the BSS610Z LXT 18v Lithium saw. I also bought the charger. Is there an adapter that will work? This sure is frustrating, time consuming, and expensive. Are the BL1830 batteries the only thing that will work? Will the DC18RA charger work with the BL1830 batteries, or do I need to buy that too. Thanks for the help.

The two are not compatable. The battery chargers are also not compatable. The main difference between the two batteries is the Amp Hours. The 1815 is only 1.5 Amp Hours and the 1830 is 3.0 Amp Hours. The slide pattern for the batteries are different respectfully. You will need a DC18SA battery charger to charge the 1830 batts.

I have a Porter Circular Saw, 18v, Cordless, 6 and a half inch blade. I'm a novice, so I unhooked the wire latchet that held the lower guard on. I figured out how to put the saw blade on, yet I have the problem of the wire latchet being unhooked still. Please help.

Remove the battery, take the blade back off and you will see the holes for the torsion spring. what you will have to do is start putting lower guard on but pretenstion the spring so it will fit back into the proper holes, it might be a benefit to remove the small bumper so that you can move the guard more. when installing the blade you don't remove the lower guard just retract it and slide the blade in place. Usually there is a retaining ring to hold the guard in place but I looked at a breakdown and didn't see one. Let me know if you need more assistance before voting please. Thank you

Saw just cut out light works but saw wont - Makita 18V LXT Circular Saw

The problem could be with the brushes or the power switch. The light will still work if either of these things are not working properly. The brushes should be between 1/2" and 1/8' long and should move freely in the brush holder. The spring should be long enough and strong enough to push the brush against the armature. If the brushes are OK do a continuity check on the switch contacts.

I cannot loosen the bolt that holds the blade on my 7 1/4 Makita circular saw. How do I make the blade stop spinning to loosen it?

They make a blade holder now but usually if you hold the blade against a wood block real tight you can loosen the bold / screw . most warn against over tightening them
