My 1970's era Black & Decker model 7340 circular saw (7 1/4") works fine in every regard except that the blade is not parallel with the shoe. When I put a square on the shoe, the back of the blade is farther from the index marks than the front by slightly less than 1/8". I'm not sure when or how this happened but I was wondering if there is any way to realign the shoe to the blade. I've changed the blade depth and angle but still no joy. There is no wobble in the blade either.

I have the same saw and it had the same problem from the day I bought it, so I expect they were all made with this defect. The way I fixed it was to unscrew the wing-nut that is used to set the blade depth, then insert a shim washer under the bolt head (I used a piece of cardboard 1/16 inch thick), you may have to work a little to get the bolt out. Finally attach the wing-nut and tighten. The shim washer effectively shifts the motor and blade relative to the base. I found that saw blade not parallel to base was only a problem when using the saw base to follow a straight edge, was not a problem when cutting to a line by eye. Hope this helps.

Black and Decker JS305 blades come out. The only blades that will stay in this saw are the ones with a hold in the shank. I can not buy blades with a hold in the shank at Home Depot. Any advise.

I'm thinking the blades that go in Jig Saws are and have been standard since the late 80's. Once upon a time, blades were held on with a collar and a set screw while today they have a fat part that locks into the collet. Can't find the proper blade at the Depot, my advice would be check with Black and Decker directly. When I searched B&D, the first hits were Sears (Maybe at K-mart) and Lowes. Home Depot didn't come up at the top. You might find the blades you need at your local Ace or Sentry or Tru-Value or other brand hardware store. Be nice to support your local merchant, your neighbor. Anyway, try here for your parts http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide/CategoryOverview.aspx?cPath=1496.2514.1020.147 I hope you find this information fruitful Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com please vote positive comments always welcomed thanks a

I've looked at both the manual and breakdown and don;t see a diamond flange for this tool, but you might want to call 1-800-544-6986 (Dewalt) and ask them if they offer it. It might be that they do but don't advertise it. Good luck
