I have purchased a dewalt 718, 12 inch sliding double bevel saw , private sale, saw was only used a couple of times and is in new condition .Checked cutting bevels and found that the left 45 degree does not lock in at true 45 degree, tried adjusting but unable to adjust the latch plate far enough clockwise for the latch to give a true 45 degree. Also when the saw is put in 0 degree there is side to side movement until the bevel lock is set. the problem may be due to the bevel latch,it seems to be sloppy. is it possible the bevel latch is faulty ?

The fence may be getting in the way of the arm when you adjust the trunion assembly fully to one side or the other for bevel cutting. Adjusting the fence all the way out away from the trunion assy. should allow full 45deg adjustment. If this is not the case, it could be--even though its only slightly used--that there is sawdust built up enough in the housing to keep the arm from fully adjusting. While the latch COULD indeed be faulty, it generally should always be tightened/locked so that the trunion assy. is fimly "locked" before cutting as this is designed to keep the saw from shifting mid cut, causing binding, uneven cuts, broken blades, seized bearings, etc.

Saw har to rotate for bevel cuts

There are tabs on the glide rings and yes there are only 3, you should find indentations in the base for the rings, I would clean them off thoroughly and use a lithium grease on them (film coat) check the table for signs that the rings have dug into it and if so smooth out before reassembling. If tabs are broke off the glide rings you would need to replace them. Let me know if you need more help

Just read thru most of the user manual and they do not address this situation. Most major adjustments they list as Service Center meaning they might have to completely disassemble and find out hy this saw is not accurate, wish I had better news.

There are no instructions that I am aware of but you can download an operators manual by going to dewaltservicenet.com and typing in your model number and it will ask you for the type number also. I would try before LOOSENING anything up taking some WD-40 or similar penetrating spray and after letting sit try to GENTLY move the arm assembly. Let me know if you need more assistance.

My LS1216 slide compound miter saws mitering table is stuck at 0 degrees it appears jammed although I've looked for something jammed stopping the plate from moving and see nothing, the handle locking mechanisim all seems to be working and I can see the positive rod draw back out of the 0 degrees stop when I press down the handle, the saw is only about 4 months old, never a problem before this, it's a great saw so far. the only thing I'm having trouble with is the miter portions Ric

I'd contact a Makita dealer. I've had this saw for years without a single misfire on the trigger. Could be heat related, but that's a stretch. Here's their contact information: Makita Contact Us
