Delta 33-890 Radial arm Saw 1.5 hp motor/electr. brake not workin

The Electronic brake on the motor does not work properly. It does not engage at all when you turn the motor off or kicks in suddenly. Also, the motor is frozen when it tries to start and it seems like it is trying to over come "something" and then it will start to turn slowly and then gathers speed and then runs normally. Then when you turn it off the electronic brake does not kick in and then at some random time it may or may not kick in. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it? Greg

Delta 33-890 Radial arm Saw 1.5 hp motor/electr. brake not workin

A little late. I assume the motor rotates freely with no power, so the reason the motor does not start up is that the start winding is not being energized. The motor will rotate CW or CCW depending on how the start winding is connected, so if the motor runs "backwards" reverse the start winding connections.Possibly the capacitor or bad connection. If you know how to use an ohm meter check the windings. The start winding should be the one with the lower gauge wiring. There is also a cut off switch that dis-engages the start winding after a few seconds. There is a mechanical braking system for this motor, so it probably needs adjustment. Go to delta.com and you will find a users manual for the 33-890. I do not believe it has an electronic brake, but I could be wrong.

Delta Radial arm saw 33-990 tripping circuit breaker

I doubt the motor is bad. Try it on another circuit to see if the same problem exists. Due to the inrush current of the motor, the circuit breaker may now be defective after several years of use.If you have the ability, determine the no load current on the motor, and then try it cutting a piece of wood.to determine the load current. If it is within the rated current of the motor, then it's fine.

Looking for owners manuals for 2 saws

Your Delta radial arm saw (RS830) manual is here. Exploded diagram for parts, etc is here.I'm not sure on the Rockwell, but here's a link to a manual for a Rockwell-Delta 10" Tilting Arbor Unisaw, circa 1969 which seems about right for a 34-466.If that's not quite right, there a couple other manuals for old Rockwell saws here.If this answer helped, please vote. Thanks!

Delta radial arm saw want start just hums - Delta Radial Arm Saw

Sounds like single phasing..is this a 3 phase saw..then one leg is down...if not, then it sounds like a start capacitor. Ensure the switches have been metered and are good.

I have a Delta 10" radial arm saw. It was running fine. I lowered the arm to much with the saw off and when I turned it on, the saw overloaded and kicked off before I could get it raised. The reset button will not pop out, and the saw will not run now. Are these reset buttons hard to replace and are there any reference materials to show you how? Where can I get parts?

The Overload reset circuit is located inside the starter assembly box on top of the motor and it is easy to replace by removing protective cover undoing de-soldering and soldering back the contacts. The overload circuit is located inside the protective box at the top side of the motor, and it is part 180 on circuit below. Before replacing the overload , test and eventually replace the starter capacitor and start meter. Here parts to be tested and eventually replaced: 180 1345843 START CAPACITOR 1 1345843 180 1345844 RUN CAPACITOR 1 1345844 180 1345845 START SWITCH MODULE 1 1345845 180 1345848 OVERLOAD 1 1345848 Here also the whole box assembly, you won't need to test in that case, but the whole assembly is expensive.MTR 1PH 1.5HP RA10They are all located on starter assembly that is the box on top of motor.Capacitors can be tested with a capacitance tester: NEW DIGITAL MULTIMETER W/CAPACITANCE TESTAlways discharge capacitors before testing. An alternative way to test capacitors with a regular multimeter is the one explained here : How to Test High Voltage Capacitors. The procedure is the same on the starter and run cap on your saw, that are high voltage capacitors.Switch and overload switch are instead simply tested by reading voltages with multimeter, and ensuring they open and close.Overload and starter are inside the box numbered part 180 on diagram below:Parts Diagram (Page 2)Here all the diagrams: 33-890 Type 1 Parts Diagram (Page 1) 33-890 Type 1 Parts Diagram (Page 2) 33-890 Type 1 Parts Diagram (Page 3)If this is what you were looking for , do not forget to leave feedback, or Fixya system will reward first comments by default. Many thanks.G.
