I own a Jet Left Tilt Cabinet Saw Mdl 708663PK. The on-off switch seems to stick and does not always start the saw. The saw runs normally when it starts. When it does not start, the on switch depresses and does not feel like it is connected to anything. The off switch does not fell like it is contacting any form of a reset switch. This seems to be worse when cold. Any ideas?

I took the front cover off of the switch and noticed the portion of the switch the off button contacts was fully depressed and would not slide back to its proper position. I lubed (silicone) the slide portion of the off switch and cycled it manually to free it up and distribute the lubrication.

I was given this saw for free, it does not start when i flip the "on" switch. I have my volt meter and have checked the wiring from the extension cord and through the switch to make sure the control board is getting electricity...and it seems like it is, but still the armature doesn't spin or anything? It doesn't make a sound at all?

If you have verified that the cord and switch have continuity through them, I would check the brushes on the motor and make sure that they are making contact with the communtator bars, and that they of acceptable length, and move freely within the brush holders. If this is so, you may have an open in the windings of the armature or field, or a dead bar on the armature itself. While you are in there, I would also check the condition of all wires, and test accordingly.

I got a good deal on a 10" porter cable table

If its just the on/off switch. The black wire from the 110Vac power supply goes to one side of the switch. The black wire from the motor goes to the other side of the switch. The remaining 2 white wires go together.( One from the powers supply the other from the motor)

Table saw won't turn on.

That reset is breaker and I would think that it should click when reset. I looked at a breakdown and the part number for the breaker is OLSL list 2.16 and they are in stock at Searspartsdirect.com If you have a volt ohms meter I would check the electrical starting at plug end of cord thru the breaker. Make sure you unplug tool before attempting. I would also take a look at the brushes for excessive wear and sawdust buildup. Let me know if I can help more

Craftsman tablesaw model number 315.218050 First let me say this saw is great and I have only great views of this saw. I was running a practice cut to check depth of cut and saw was working fine. Checked the fit of the cut looked great then went to run the final cuts and the saw just would not start. Maybe a 2 min time from the practice cut to wanting to cut the final cuts. It does feel like the switch is not clicking like it use to. I have checked the breakers, have checked the plugs, reset the surge protector, everything is in working order. I even plugged another unit into the outlet and all was working. Could this be a switch problem and if so how do I know which connectors go on top and bottom of switch, one set is clear blue sleeves on connectors and then clear sleeves. Thank you for your assistance Jesse Williams

Jessie, It sure sounds like the switch has failed. You can replace the original switch with replacement swtich from Sears, or you can just replace it with a light switch from Home Depot. If you go with the light switch, use one with as high a capacity rating (amps) as you can find that will fit. However, if you go with an ordinary light swithch, you will also give up the safety feature or having a "key" for the switch. This is not a good idea if you have kids that might have access to your saw. Regarding the the wire connections, any single-phase switch will have only two terminals (besides the ground). These two terminals are interchangeable - it doesn't matter which of the two wires connect to which of the two terminals. Good luck. Please vote if you found this helpful. Al K

Tile saw began having trouble starting. I would

Your motor brushed sound like they're gone bad. Some electric motors have two small plugs on the side which house the brushes. See if yours has this and get new parts. The other possibility is that the bearings are corroded and has built up enough resistance to stop everything.Might not be able to replace those, however.

My ryobi saw seems to be dying. I am trying to cut a piece of plywood and it seems to be working at full strength until I start cutting. As it starts cutting it slowly dies down to the point that it stops midcut. Is this likely something wrong with the battery, blade, or saw? What is an easy fix?

Macallister mitre saw sparking

I would plug it into another outlet first. The small arcing that you see might be normal especially on stopping because of the brake. If another outlet doesn't work then I would take it back. Upon startup this saw will draw more than the rated running amps.
